A buddy of mine wants to tow his boat with his 01 XJ. He doesn't like how the back sags down when he hooks up the boat. Can you get helper springs or something for the back to help with the weight? He doesn't want the springs to be too stiff either. Any suggestions?

how big of a boat is it? i tow my 15 1/2 boat fully loaded it weights close to 2800LB and i dont have a problem. I towed up the interstate for 4 hours.
I would recommend upgrading the cooling system if he hasnt already.

Yeah, I'd get a 3 core radiator from DPGoffroad then find an upgrade for your tranny cooler. I think AutoZone sells spring helpers. Not sure how well they work but I'd give em a shot if he's worried about the rear sagging.

His boat isn't that big, but I guess he's having a problem with the back sagging down. I know when I have the back of mine loaded with camping gear and I have my rack on the hitch with fire wood, mine sags too.

No one else have this problem???

He sold the Ford truck and bought his wife the XJ. Smart move if you ask me. I'd take a Jeep over a Ford any day

I used the helper springs on my old GMC jimmy. I hated the way it used to sag. They worked out really well. A cheap fix though. He may need new leafs prolly not with that new of a year. Mine used to do it but then I lifted my rig and put heavy springs out back. No problem now.
