Not a fan of the gold interior but it's solid and fully loaded. 4.7 quadra-drive.

Any votes on whether or not I should keep that front bumper guard thing? I'm not sure about those running boards either.

Tires are new 245/75/17. They rub so I plan on hitting Jason up for a 2" BB soon.

My '88 stroker had way more torque than this little V8

A 99? It's gonna lemonade you!

Get rid of the front thing, and the steps.

I like the grille guard. My MIL has a nearly identical one on her 01 WJ. I'd ditch the Walmart special lights though.

Didn't realize those are JK wheels, that makes sense.

I think I'll keep the grille guard and ditch the steps like you guys say. Originally I wanted to ditch both but I've grown to like the look of the front.

I like the grill gaurd and the black wheels. I do not like the old school nerf bars.

I have JK wheels with the same size tires and the budget boost (thanks to Jason). Mine still rub the inner fenders a little, but nothing too bad. I did have to trim behind the floodlights thou.

Well there's a nice blemish and dent behind the grill guard on the bumper that possibly was created during the installation of it. I'm definitely gonna keep it now.

The steps will come off while I install the BB I've yet to order. I'll take it on a wheelin' run shortly thereafter.

That all comes after I get the Z28 back on the road.

Thanks for the input, guys

Finally installed the 2" RE BB that Jason sold me a little while back.

Rear suspension:

After lifting rear, before lifting front:

Same, different angle:

Working on the front:

Front completed:

(agoldxj might recognize that socket set )

All done:

Wasn't too bad, took me under 3 hours I think. I do have full power tools and some harbor freight spring compressors which made life MUCH MUCH easier than it would have been without them.

Still haven't pulled off the steps, just lazy about it I guess. My little girl uses them to climb in to get into the car seat in the back

I'm pretty sure if you do enough trimming, you can fit some 35's on there now.

Those are 245/75/17 , which is supposed to be 31.5" high, 9.8" wide.... So I guess a bit taller but also a bit skinnier than your typical 31s. I think they'll do well at least until I wear them out.

This one has the D30/D44 combo so I wouldnt be afraid of running something a bit taller. BFG makes a 285/75/17 (34" tall, 11.3" wide) but it is so expensive that it would be cheaper to buy 15" wheels and run 33s.

The transmission makes me nervous, I miss my AW4.

When you're on the strip, taxi drivers seem to be fully authorized to mow down pedestrians as long as they're holding down the horn button. They TAKE right of way, don't give a crap.

I can't say I haven't done the same thing. When I'm waiting forever for a light to turn green and I can't go because some asshats are in the crosswalk when they aren't supposed to, I take a little joy in holding down the horn and scaring the crap out of 'em.

I can only assume that the Jeep and Dodge 4.7 (non HO) are the same? Not something like the Dodge vs. Jeep 5.9 (360 ci) V8, where they're significantly different, is it?

my understanding is that its the same

honestly though I think it would be a waste of money to try to get more power out of the 4.7L in a Jeep. it doesn't need to go fast

I did all that with my XJ and the time/effort/money wasn't worth it in the long run, although it was pretty damn cool.

However, a little part of me wants my head gaskets to blow so I can swap out the heads/cams/intake

So today I finally got off my *** and took off the steps:

Then I installed a CB. At first I wanted to put it on the dash but didn't want to screw into the soft surface. Thought about installing on the side of the center console but didn't like that idea, finally had a good idea and ran with it.

The lid closes just fine as long as the handset is unplugged. I figure when I go out on a wheelin' trip I'll unscrew the lid and leave it off so it isn't flapping around. The speaker is on the bottom so it works out well.

I grounded it on a mounting screw under the console, and got power from this, not sure what it is but it was unused and had constant power:

I mounted my "little wil" magnetic antenna on the roof here:

Ran the wire through the existing grommet:

Pulled it along the drivers side headliner, then down the pillar, under the seat, and into the center console:

The trimming could have been better but I'm fine with how it turned out:

What's actually holding the CB in place is the trimmed plastic as well as a few cable ties that go through the CB mount and into these small holes I drilled:

Those holes and the cable ties are easily concealed by putting the cup holder back in place:

Overall I'm happy with the way it turned out.
