I'm looking at Aj's rails. I don't know if I want the standard or super rails. I would like to save some money so that makes me lean more to the standard rails, but the super rails provide some body protection also, and I'll have a step for roof access.
I want to keep the body on my XJ as fresh as possible, so I think I'm better off with the super rails. Anyone know any other companies that make a good product for about the same price or less?

Ask if you can get the standard with longer mounts. That will stick the sliders out further. If you know anyone that fabs you can get the standard. Then if you feel you need more protection, have tubes welded to the out side like the super rails later on. Last I dealt with AJ he was pretty flexible customizing his stuff. Can't hurt to ask.
You can get away with 1/8 wall. It will dent if you hit it hard enough, but you wont bend it. And it will still do the job.

Go with the Super Rails.

As far as price goes, unless you can make your own, I don't think that anyone can beat AJs.
x50 on the super rails. Having the rails stick out that extra few inches provides a ton more protection. No one ever anticipates having to scrape up against a tree...but it happens. Without the extra stick-out, you've got body damage. with the super rails, no one will ever know you were up against a tree.

I love my super rails, I doubt you can beat AJs price unless its a crappy product.
I was to into how far his super rail stick out, but now I like them alot. They have saved my door handles a few times already, plus my tires still stick out past the ma little bit.

I'd never run anything other than AJ's super rails. not only do they provide the main rail as rocker protection/rock slider, the outside bar does keep trees and rocks farther away from the body and rear doors. I have used the super rails pretty much to pivot on to get around things. Also, they help as step ups a little bit for the ladies.
