Default Bahh! Is my YJ a Lemon?! <--Updated

Long post, but come on.. Help a buddy out.

I had posted about lifts, wheels, my wierd hood alignment issue, etc....

My passenger side tire sticks out almost an entire inch more than the drivers side. I noticed, because the passengers side was flicking water in the air when I drove (its rainy here), and the drivers side wasn't.. So I got out and checked.. Now, could this be caused by my sagging suspension? If so, I'd like to know how that works.. Why does sagging suspension cause the vehicle to lean to the drivers side. Also, my jeep pulls to the left - which could also be because of these things, correct?

The jeep must have been in a decent sized accident involving the passenger side wheel well area, because the springs and the fender are non-stock (scrap yard grease pencil numbers on them) and the Jeep wording on the passenger side is re-painted. Sometimes when I turn there is a soft tick/knock coming from the steering/axle area, but this could very well be something as simple as shocks, leafs shifting (looks like one leaf was removed, my jeep looks lowered in the front).

The hood doesn't align properly and is 1/2-3/4" to the drivers side in the front - However, I don't believe its the hood that isn't lining up, its the grill that is mis-aligned. The grill is about 1/2" back from where it SHOULD be.

Other than these things, the frame appears straight to visual inspection - the body appears to be centered on it, and the body appears un-damaged.

Engine/TC/drivetrain runs and drives PERFECT, steering works great. I can't imagine anything that couldn't be adjusted if the frame/body were straight.

You guys have any ideas? Maybe I'm being paranoid? will a lift (since it replaces most of the spring/shocks/etc) fix the sagging and therefor most of the problems?

How can a 10+ year old vehicle be a lemon? It is not a lemon it is a USED CAR!

Your sig says its stock are you sure? It may have a small lift and if so that would explain the springs and the axle issue maybe. Mnay people/dealerships spray ca nthe underside of vehicles to make them look cleaner.

If it has infact been wrecked, well stuff isn't lining up cause its been wrecked durh. Just make due or start fixing whetever is throwing everything off. If it drives fine I'd just say live with it.

I just want to make sure its structurally safe.. I'm using it as my DD and would like to not die. So, no, not an aftermarket track-bar.... I honestly don't know what a trackbar is or what it looks like. people keep telling me to remove it.. but it sounds important. Sorry to sound like a ****tard.

Wait you have a YJ, lol. Do they even have trackbars since they are leaf sprung. That might be why you don't know what it is, haha.

The track bar runs from the passenger side of the front axle to the frame on the driver's side of the Jeep. It will pull [or push] the axle to one side or the other if it's not the right length for the lift or droop that you have.

Oh SNAP!!!!!!

Could it be off because of the lowered springs in the front? His YJ sits like two inches low on the front

You know.. I just looked at a diagram of what a trackbar is (man, I'm such a stupid n00b) and it makes sense now why it would be pushed to THAT particular side... if it WAS sagged (and it is... BAD) it would totally sag. When I get a lift, I'll need an adjustable trackbar won't I?

Take your trac-bar off and beat it on the ground. Then grind the mount off the axle. Here they fail you on inspection for not having it but if you grind off the mount you pass. You don't need it.

Most leafsprung vehicles don't use them once lifted....I am saying this cause every kit I cna remember didn't come with one.

LoL, Hey guys.. easy on BlackSheep.. He's liable to snap into a suicidal rage and take me with him....

I understand how sway bars can be optional.. however, to improve handling for normal everyday driving.. I can see how an adjustable one would be nice to have to keep the car from swaying back and forth.

For the YJ if you really want a trackbar spend the bucks for the JKS telescoping trackbar. I had one on my 95 YJ when I had it. It adjusts naturally. When you go wheeling - you reach under there and loosen up a 9/16" bolt. It slides in and out and gives you articulation like there's not one on there. When done wheeling - tighten up the bolt and instant trackbar. You might be able to find one used.

Well, this is good news anyways.. makes me feel a little better, now I just have to figure out why my front grill isn't attached correctly...

Does the grill hold up the radiator? or is the radiator mounted independantly?

Cool - And, from what I understand - there is 5 bolts under each fender and one underneath that hold it in?

Yep, that's the Jeep thing. Jeepers love their Jeeps, no matter how much of a sh1tbox they become.

'Course all yours does is hold down the garage floor, so it doesn't really matter whether you like it or not.
