What was the last year of the XJ, 01?
What late model is the better year? 4.0 is a given.

01 was 97-01 is newer body, i think 99+ came with body color flares and metal bumpers, classics have full body paint including all trim. i think if you can find a classic with full paint it would be nice. they all have the same interior..except for limiteds of course.

it looks like a 60th anniversary edition based on the wheels and the black spec on the fender being the badge for the 60th ann. id argue the price down to 9.5K very nice though, theres one around town that seems to make my pants fit funny when i see it...

These two are carmax, no haggle price, which means, you pay what we say you will pay. Biggest advantage at carmax is that they tend to give you more for your trade. They gave us alot more for Turd Expedicktion then it was worth, bad heater blend door in all!

You can get body colored flares and bumpers in any of the 97-01. It has to have a certain package though, my 97 country came with painted flares and bumpers but those parts are now in my attic collecting dust.

About 5 hours ago my buddy bought a '99 XJ Sport 4.0L/Auto/231, loaded, 114k, $6,012 taxtagstitle out the door. This thing was pretty immaculate too. I think he got a good deal...
BTW, he told me we are going to the U-pull-it for some S10 springs next monday. ![]() Also, for reference, I payed $13k 2 years ago for my '00 XJ Sport, same specs as his, and an extended warrenty (that was void within 5 months ) with 56k miles on it.I believe Deke payed $11,800ish the SAME DAY as me for his '00 XJ sport, also same specs, no warrenty, with 28-30k? miles on it.

I gave about 12K for my 97 almost 5 years ago. It has about every option but leather and a rear defroster, 52K on it and an extended warrenty. I feel like that was a decent price.
