Lots of random pics to start.

Deke installing his 8.8 4.10s and detroit.

Pretty cool long exposure shot I took last night after a partay.

Now for the real stuff. I fabbed me some LCA skids to match the beefed up 1/4" plate LCA mounts on the HP30. I used the press and die I made for PolarXJ's 8.8 truss to bend the plate.

Removing excess via the bandsaw.

The fab cart I made. Craftsmen drill press, Lincoln SP135 welder, and Harbor Freight bandsaw. I have one last tool to add, a bench grinder.

Bent up and cut to length.

Welding it on. Probably the best timed welding shot i've ever takin.

Welded.

Other side almost done. The LCA is completely boxed in. My only fear is dropped off a rock from the LCA skid and it damaging the exposed JKS arm where it articulates.

A lil' paint.

Done and done.

Then I moved on to curing my ****ty pinion angle thanks to me measuring instead of guessing. It never works out right that way.

So I turned it around, jacked it up, and whatya know, it starts pouring.

Anybody who has read previous work threads of mine knows that every freakin time I touch the jeep with a wrench, an isolated thunderstorm randomly appears to make me stop. Today it was just annoying.

My solution was to create an extended shackle to try and even out the lift front to rear and partially cure my pinion angle problems.

Stock shackle, I only used the bushing from it.

The new side plates for the ghettoshackle.

Cutting up the stock shackle, no turning back now.

How it all fits together.

All welded up with a monsterghettogusset installed.

Backside. The stock shackle brace peice is tied into the new one with that peice of 1/4" plate. I'm still kinda weary on the lack of weld that actually attaches to the bushing.

Flux core pro...

After some paint, they're in.

Sits just a bit high in the rear. I'm going to pull the smallest leaf and replace it with a stock XJ leaf to hopefully drop the rear down some, back the way it was.

Test drive on I-295 revealed that my vibe issue is 90% resolved. Still a slight vibe under decel. Should be completely gone when I replace that leaf and lower the rear a bit.

I'm going to end up snagging a set of MJ shackles I think. These are a bit too ghetto fabulous for my taste.

Oh, and Deke borrowed himself a set of 33" Trxus MTs to go wheeling for 4 days this week/end. Deke is finally gonna wheel his ****.

That's all I got for today. Should be off to Rausch Friday and Paragon Saturday, then Rausch again on Sunday. Hopefully tomorrow OK4WD will have my new LTB to make this thing highway worthy. I'm scared to drive more than 20 miles from home with the missing lug.

nice, how do you like that harbor freight chop saw? i've looked at it a few times but have always been a bit concerned about it's quality.

I love it. It's my favorite tool besides the welder. Just gotta get rid of that sheetmetal stand and get a good bimetal blade and you're set.

Are those Nick's tires?

And yeah, I'd agree with your suspicions about that shackle. I'd either buy some, or make new ones that are one piece the whole way up on the sides, in the near future.

Side note...do you know of anywhere that would have approximately 10 feet of 1.75" x .120 DOM tube layin around?

Hey Timmay, is this the same Harbor frieght bandsaw that's on your fab cart? Or do you have a seperate upright bandsaw?

It folds down when not in use etc. It comes with a crappy cart/legs as well. Costs like $160.

Nice work guys i'm jealous of your fab skills. I'm taking a welding class this november then i'll start tearing into the YJ some more. NO more bribing my buddies with coors light to weld my junk back together

On a side note, i think that xj looks perfect, i woulnd't start messing with the rear pack, leave it as is, i hate the look of saggy asss xj's. Keep that rear in the air, it really looks level in my opinion.

*edit* all these minor mods and you're still running the stock tierod with 34" swampers Trust me on this one, sleeve that fawker ASAP if you're not going to buck up and get a new tierod. I swear every time i'm out with a TJ or Xj guy running the stock steering i end up fixing it on the trail. You've got the skills, beef that fawker UP

If you can remember what size DOM i bought back in january, i have it in my basement still. might only be like 8 ft, maybe 10 though. it's 3/16" thick i do know that... i haven't used it, so if you want it, let me know...

We've got a 20-ton model from Harbor Freight. Runs about $250.

Yep, Nick's tires. If OK4WD doesn't have my LTB in today i'm going to hit up to local junkyard for some MJ/Dak shackles. No DOM at all, i'd be using it.

I'd like to do that. It won't necesserily speed up cutting as much as save blades though. And when in the upright position theres no wayfor me to capture fluid, it would pour out all over the motor, no good.

Yep, same saw. It folds down for gravity feed cutting and upright for hand cutting. You just have to bolt on the plate, two phillips head screws.

Thanks Wally.

No worries. "1 Ton" steering is in the works. In the mean time I have two spare tie rods and a spare draglink. Next time i'm at the steel yard i'll grab some tube or angle iron to sleeve it with though. It's worrying me. I've never had a problem of it tacoing due to tire weight though, I always end up running into things.

I'm not sure, Deke baught it. I believe it was $75 from JCWhitney. The seals are blown in the jack though so we don't get anywhere near 12 tons of pressure out of it. Still bends 1/4" plate and presses on carrier bearings though.

Oh, wally, it's def. leaning a bit more than that.

Take about 1/2" out of that and it should still sit slightly higher. Just enough to even out when the spare and trail spares are in the back.

Serious? They won't come close to fitting stock LCA mounts. But if you want I can make some that will fit Deke's POS.

Do you happen to have a 1.5* shim you can ship to me and have it here by, oh say, an hour?

I just drove to OK4WD, about 1h45m away, and at what my speedo says is 95mph, more like 80, i have a slight humm from the rear shaft. Its from 50-65 that I get the worst vibes. All deceleration vibes.

I have some 4* shims i'm going to modify to work. Little grinding here and there.
