I have an 96 XJ.. Chrysler wants 150 bucks (cnd) for two front tow hooks.. Yet I can find several brands online for about 20 bucks.. they're rated for 10 000 pounds and will mount on the front of my XJ..
is Chrysler just trying to stick it to me? Are this tow hooks online not up to par? or Am I loosing my mind?.. |

All Chrysler parts are going to be more expensive then aftermarket ones.. well most at least. I got a pair of C4x4 hooks and brackets and they are fine. A few different companies make them but most people prefer C4x4's. Email Jason.. I am sure he will get you a good price on them.

The most expensive part of the whole deal are the brackets. I got some 10,000 LB chrome hooks from Princess Auto for $5 a piece . Brackets are hard to come by, I was lucky enough to strip them off a wreck. That's what costs you the money, not the hooks.

I checked with the stealership about the tow hook kit for my XJ and they told me it was discoed and unavailable. My buddy's gone fab me some brackets and we're gonna mount the hooks this spring unless I decide to go for the front hitch. Decisions, decisions.....

Rustys has a kit for $75 (US) that has the brackets, hooks, and hardware. Just thought it's worth pointing out

C4x4's are cheaper and better than Rusty's though.

Yeah, go with C4X4 it is a good kit. Ask Jason (the guy who runs this site) what hooks would cost through Jeepin' Outfitters. I'm sure he can get you a good deal.

I just put in my C4X4 tow hooks, and I like them, and they were the cheapest on the web when I bought them. My only problem was that one of the bolts on each side didn't line up, but oh well.

Well, I had to hack about .75" off of 1 towhook bolt on each side, but other than that.
