My local wreckin yard has a Commanche sittin there. Pretty sure it's a D44 under it. I still need a better look at it though. Is this worth getting? I know it's not a direct swap into an XJ, but still? I don't need another D44 (already have one) but I was thinkin of pickin it up, as a spare or to sell to someone........

The Commanche D44 (MJ) is as bolt in as an XJ D44 is, isn't it.

Nothin visibly wrong with it, no body damage. But the drivetrain and interior are long gone (used to be a 4.0) All that's left is the rear axle.

it'll bolt in to an MJ, not an XJ.

the MJ uses longer springs, the springs are farther apart and the MJ is also spring under axle, as opposed to the XJ which is spring over axle.

the MJ shock mounts are different as well.

what?

never had a unibody on jackstands sitting in your garage before?

(you can use XJ parts for everything except the seats, rear suspension, e-brake and rear driveshft)

Nope, never. I don't have a garage. Just a muddy driveway Nah, it's too much work, and I don't really have any spare XJ parts layin around. Stock XJ coils and some crappy old shocks is about it. Although those boys have a nice ol 86 XJ Wagoneer with a blon 2.8 in it Wouldn't mind that for a project........

My last project is my '84 Mustang GT....
http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/cpday/vwp?.dir=/Car+Pix&.dnm=Mustang.+Right+Side.jpg&.src=bc&.view =l&.done=http%3a//briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/cpday/lst%3f%26.dir=/Car%2bPix%26.src=bc%26 .view=l

It turned out pretty well, put a good engine in it, new 5spd, exhaust. Pretty much changed everything under the hood. I do kinda want another Jeep for a trail rig though.....

if you look VERY closely to the left of my stripped Jeep on jackstands, you'll see the rear wheel arch of a 73 Cougar XR7 convertible... it's also just a unibody on Jackstands

I have too many projects (it's still sittin' there)
