The aggressive up-shift trans behavior could be for driving on the emissions cycle. The load is relatively light on the FTP75 so the engine can run lower RPM. Lower RPM overall = less emissions.

But that doesn't explain why Ram is able to have such a different behavior...unless the engines run that much cleaner, which I can't imagine would be the case.
