Was thinking of adding it to my 03 CTD. Is it worth it? any gains in power or mileage? Or just a waste of money.

You mean a cold air intake? Worth the money if you want to hear your turbo. No gains in HP or torque. I Saw an article in Diesel Power that showed them installing all the different kinds of aftermarket intakes on a CTD and none gave any increase in power.

OOPS ,,yeah thats what I meant. A guy where I used to work put one in his and told me it had more power now, and gained in fuel mileage. I wondered if it was just that the turbo noise made him THINK it was more powerful....

I've got an AFE stage II kit with torque tube... I added the tube after the air box. THe filter and box didn't seem to do much, but the "torque tube" that runs from the turbo to the box seemed to help out low end grunt. But then again, I really think that the turbo whistle is cool :D

Yup, I have that same issue. They dyno'ed 6 different intake/filter kits, none showed any real gains over the stock setup. In fact they said they changed the focus of the review to how each kit sounded and looked since none performed any better than stock.

I just want forced induction. I've found myself brainstorming recently about piecing together a twin turbo setup for my 360:D

Not too mention most aftermarket performance filters will let more dirt into the intake/turbo. The filters that use oild to trap particles tend to get oil in your intake which can mess with sensors. Just not worth it IMHO

Instead of getting a full CAI just get a BHAF (big honking air filter) Get a hug filter and put it on along with removing the turbo silencer ring and you will get a ton of turbo whistle!

Funny story bout the ctd at work. The guys tell me its got no balls, they looked under the hood and nothing was wrong, or so they said. I say huh ya sure? Look and the morons keep letting the damn intercooler tube come disconnected from the tb......

The silencer ring I am talking about is a metal ring on the turbo itself. I am not sure if the Common Rail CTDs have them or not. It is held in by a metal snap ring on the inlet to the turbo compressor. Remove it and let the whistle come alive! I know that the 2nd gens 12v and 24v have them.
