What? I wasn't bashing his brand preference, just his way of saying it.
I like dodges and all, but i'm a ford guy. Congrats on your purchase. I know you'll be happy with it.

Yes it is. Same day, he went and bought a brand new 2006 Chevy 2500 Duramax, and just waited until he got his insurance money :roflmao:
I'm pretty sure, since that was his first Ford, that this situation scared him away from Ford forever.

I don't blame him. Must have been a one in a billion chance though. I have heard nothing about them doing that and in my position i would definatly hear about it.

Yep, stuff like that happens. I am not a Ford guy, but can understand. These are still mass produced man made vehicles. Problems happen. If it happened a few times for a specific model or part, I would worry.
I can't blame the guy for swearing off Ford though. After spending that much money and having that happen, it must be tought to go back and drop another huge chunk of $$$ on another.

they had that problem on the late 90's f-150's. something about the cruise control cricuit shorting out and the truck bursting into flames in your driveway in the middle of the night. i believe it was addressed in a recall of the affected vehicles. the real question is why would the cruise control system be powered when the vehicle is parked and off, and why would it not be fuse-protected well enough to keep the whole vehicle from burning down to nothing. :dunno:
nice lookin truck, but no fords for me.

Congrats! Looks really good. I like the Cummins motors better, but I gotta say I think the Fords are the best looking truck on the road (of Chevy/GM, Dodge, and Ford). I'd have gone for the crew cab though (says the guy with a Megacab). ;)

yeah, i decided i didn't need all the room of the crew cab and i liked the look of the supercab better. I rarely ever take more than 2 people in my vehicle. Besides, if we need more passenger room, we can always take the XJ (although the ford has seatbelts for 6 and the XJ only has for 5)
