The backside of the flares showing the shorty "mounting" bolt. In hindsight I think the washers were supposed to go on the front, but they're the same DIA as the bolt head, so you wouldn't have seen them anyway.

Fake "mounting" bolt from the front. The lazy bums at BW didn't drill any of the holes for these bolts, so I had to go through and drill them all out. BW did at least put little dimples in the bolt pockets to center the drill bit.

Front fender cleaned up. The Cummins emblems have to be removed to install the front flares, and that was a bit of a PITA. I'm going to relocate them to the same area on the fenders, just higher up so they clear the flares.

The flares literally bolted right up to the fenders. The front use 3 existing bolts, the rears use 2 existing bolts, along with 2 clip-nuts and 3 kinda funky mini-clip things. I really should have gotten more pics from the install, but as straight forward as it was to do, I almost didn't see much point in documenting it step by step.

The fit is pretty good, but since the flares just mount from the underside, there are some slight gaps around the outer edge. You really have to look to see them though. Once again their instructions leave a LOT to be desired. Their diagrams of how to use the miniclip things was wrong and the text in places seemed like some bad engrish translation.

Overall though I'm pretty happy with the flares, and I really like the look of them.

I like the look of the truck w/o the flares personally. The new look doesn't look bad, just not as good IMO.

I probably should have waited to do the flares until after I did the leveling kit, just to get a better before/after idea of the flares, but I'm impatient about doing mods and the flares were quicker-n-easier to do than the lift.

The pocket flares are a bit more "modified" looking than I really wanted for this truck, but I just don't like the 'smoothie' fenders on the Dodges -- Chevys come with flares already and the Fords have flared fenders -- so I had to do something. My original thought was either a set of BW Street Flares or some OEM PowerWagon flares.

Jen liked bolder and the more aggressive look of the Pocket Flares so we went with them instead. They didn't really cost any different than the other flares we were looking at.

To each his own...I like that hidden hitch in the pic above ;) Course, doesn't have YOUR bumper, which is tough as nails.

I need diff rims on my tow rig...that has bothered me since day one. Just can't stomach spending the cash on it right now tho. That, and it'd look nice w/ a couple inches under it...too bad they only sell ridiculous 6" kits

FWIW, Superlift has a 2-3/4" front, 3/4" rear kit (I guess these SUV's have a rake to them from the factory too) for the '00-'06 4wd 'Hoes. There's always body lifts.

Dude...building three rigs is going to kill you. Stop with the tow rig now before you get in too deep.

aside from a monitor to watch boost, EGT, trans temp, etc, and possibly a module or downloader, the truck is pretty much done. This is all stuff we'd planned from the start, it just all happened a bit quicker than we'd originally planned.

I'm still not sure I like the chrome honeycomb grille, so I may swap that out for a chrome Laramie grille (horizontal bars) eventually.
