I've got a 91' Plymouth Sundance 5 speed.

I've never worked on a clutch so I don't know where to start with this....

1. You have to go from 2nd gear and slam it into 1st in order to get it into 1st.
2. In any gear, floor the pedal and it slips out of gear like you are pressing on the clutch. But once the speedo reaches the right speed it'll slowly slip back into gear.

So, any help? Where should I start?

If you don't already have one, get a maintenance manual from Haynes or Chilton (or both). See if the symtoms you describe are covered in any of the troubleshooting charts. Then look at the sections related to tranny/clutch maintenance and learn what you would need to do and tools that may be necessary. Determine if you have the time, space, tools and skills to do the work. You may have to raise the vehicle a lot to get work room. Check fluid levels if appropriate before taking anything apart. Then probably start with the clutch since it could be the throw-out bearing, the clutch plate, or the flywheel (or all if the vehicle has a lot of miles since the last driveline maintenance). A look in the tranny by a shop or knowledgeable person may be in order since you will have it out anyway.

Thanks for the advice. I have a Chiltons manual but it just tends to stay in the trunk. I'll go searching for it.
