hard to tell how much room they offer inside... are they big enough to fit a handgun? (don't worry, job related). Looks like the metal ones (steel horse, maybe?) would fit more, but i don't like a big metal corner hanging out there when people are riding in the back on a trail. seems like a big ol' cut waiting to happen if you're getting bounced all over. wish they offered them in tan to match my dash.... oh well.

If you are going to carry a weapon, you would really want it a little more secure then the Bestops offer. You mentioned metal edges but you should not be to concerned, the are all pretty rounded of. I do not know if they have changed, but the old Steel Horse were actually made of presto-board. You should check out the Tuffy Boxes for a good amount of storage space and True Security.

it probably was tuffy that i'm thinking of... i realy like the bestop ones beacuse they kinda look factory, ya know? i really don't carry off-duty that often to begin with, and i do have a trigger lock. if it was something i needed to use everyday, then i'd be more concerned. i only need to use it every now and then, and for very short amounts of time. but, i do need something lockable to use.

The Tuffy is great, only because only a fool would try and break-in. Even if they try, they are not likely to hurt anything, and are not going to get anywhere. I would not say the same about the Bestop.

Sorry, to answer your question, the Bestop storage boxes are plenty big enough for a handgun.

that's what i needed, dennis icon_smile_wink.gif i had a female passenger get injured by my SEAT BRACKETRY over the summer, so i take things like trail safety into consideration more so that normal.
