I was just wondering if anyone knew how to get a sponsorship for my rig. High ranking in comps? much usage of product? I'm trying to get a sponsorship so I can enter into more comps and not be worried about finances and stuff with my rig. whether its free parts, or a written check to keep my Xj in good condition......

You should put together a package of Videos, Pictures of you competeing, along with a complete list of results that you have had. You have to show the businesses that you approach that you are a good investment, that you will be seen by x number of people at the contest, by x number of people in magazines, who would be interested in their product. Approach your employer, often large corporations will sponsor employees as a good will gesture throughout the company.
Essentially you need a portfolio to present to those you want to approach. You need to present yourself in a positive light that will reflect well on them.
edit:
Oh yea, my only qualifications for this advice, is my previous experiance at a P.R. firm that took care of this sort of thing for a major North American Brewery. Also the help that I provided friends in getting sponsorship with their Pro-Bass Fishing careers and some partial surfing sponsorships. I am in no way a sports agent, but I would recommend any contract that you receive is reviewed by a lawyer, with some contract law experiance.

If your looking for sponsorship in anything be sure to be ready to show them how and why you are worth their money, goods, support, whatever. Nobody wants to sponsor you just because you want to go, or because you say your good,or need the parts. Before anyone will give you any money you have to show them a return.
Put together something telling them about rock crawling and the amount of interest the sport has generated in the past few year. How many people show up at the events and are going to see the name of their company on your vehicle. How TV and magazines are putting on more show's and articals.
Tell them how you are going to in a positive and proffesional manner represent them at and away from the events. As soon as you pick up any sponsor's, start representing.

basically you have to do good in comps. short and simple. or be buddy buddy with someone. Start out running with inferior stuff lol yeah like thats possible in jeep land. then show em what you can do with that if it impresses them be on the look out for a custom long arm from somewhere for you to use on your rock crawler xj with an exo cage and some d60 axles sittin on some bfg crawler prototypes... and send me all your old stuff graemlins/rotflmao.gif

i've found that if you approach someone with at fully loaded 20 ga mossburg they will be quick to give you money... lol
all the advice given is good.... you have to show them why they should sponsor you, get buddy buddy with someone, this takes the most time but once done your less likely to have to hassel with re-newing contracts etc...that and they'll feel better about giving you money if they know you personally....
