Can anyone share some information on swapping a 2.5l jeep motor in place of the 2.8l gm V6. I already built the 4 cyl for my 2 door project cherokee when I found a 4 door in much better shape. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris.

you gotta swap wiring harnesses and play with the vacuum system, change over the exhaust, but other than that, everything else bolts up.
Wise choice goin with the 4-banger... it's got more snot than the v6 anyway. I would check the axle gear ratios in both jeeps as well, you'll wanna have the lower gears in whichever one you wanna drive... trust me icon_smile_wink.gif

Why go with the 4 cylinder? If I were you I'd get a 3.4L V6 from a Camaro and swap that in. The 2.8L is just a smaller version of the 3.4L. So it would be close to a straight bolt in.

Thanks for the advise. The axle gearing will not be a problem, the four banger has stock 4.10s and I'm not sure about the V6. I am swapping in a 9" rear and D44R in the front with 5.13s and lockers. The wiring harness won't be a problem either as I'm doing away with the computer controlled carb anyway. I had the four cyl built for my 84 2 door when I found an 85 four door in better shape. Thanks again for the advise. Chris.

One of my buddies just rebuilt the 2.5 and put it back in his 86. Even a brand new engine with a cam doesn't help that much. I guess it you have it geared high and just wheel it but if you plan on doing more than 55 on the highway i would look for some more power.
