You never cease to amaze me. What now?

And no, I've never swapped an RV engine.

the green situation bought an RV...it leaked badddddd out of the rear main. so, do you think they checked the oil after their last road trip to milaukee show? none of them tooles know how to do it, so i imagine i'm going to get roped into helping, ie. doing it myself. just trying to get any heads up on something to be aware of.

They bought an RV

A bunch of guys that don't know squat about mechanix. Nice. Sounds like something Cotter would get himself into.

Ok, I'll admit. I don't check my oil at my gas fillups like I should. But my '01 doesn't leak like a sieve either. If I saw drippings, I'd look it over.

But if they KNEW it was leaking...and didn't check. They deserve to pay a fukn mechanic to replace it. Good luck Wrekr. Guys up here at 3-Rivers Off Road specialize in RVs as well. You could ask them, if they weren't in Iraq :o

What is this RV? Ford, Chevy? You got any pix? Should be a swap much like a regular truck unless it's one of those lunkers w/ a center or rear engine.

More info is needed. What type of chassis etc...

If it is a cutaway(regular van front end) it is like swapping one in a van. There might be some more AC coolant lines for rear heat, but is should the same. If it is the rolling shoe box type, you're in for a treat. :bangtard:

its a chevy based RV with the van type front/driving section.. the heat and a/c is separate from the driver's area for the rest of the living area. its got, well had, a 350 in it. guess the engine pretty much seized up.

1978 chevy travelcraft, 80,000 miles...yah, the thing sat at cotter's for couple hours and there must have been a half quart on the ground.

something like this one....

It's no different than any other van swap.

PITA...there really isn't any room to work. but, i have a different style motorhome than that. But trying to replace an alternator was a bigger pita than my whole jeep project.

OK, for starters, I gotta clear some shilt up here.

#1) It wasn't WE that didn't check the oil, it was ONE PERSON. A guy can only preach til he's blue in the face, but if yer preaching to and idiot, and you live 50 miles from him, there ain't much a person can do if he's got a wild hair up his a$$ to drive that thing and not check the oil.

#2) The Green Situation did NOT buy an RV. Chris, one of the members did, and was offering it up for use. The Green Situation has not spent a dime on it, and will not until the thing gets fixed and proves to be roadworthy.

#3) "None of them tooles know how to do it", well...based upon this post, the person that started it may just be another one of them "tooles" that don't know how to do it either.

#4) I personally had nothing to do with the sourcing, purchase, or maintenance on this thing. It was brought to my place so we could give it a once over, make sure the furnace, stove, awning, etc worked, clean up the thing, and do some inside repairs.

#5)The reason why no oil was checked after the show is b/c WHO THE FUKK IS GONNA CHECK THE OIL AT 4:30 AM AFTER IT GETS YOU TO WHERE YER GOING? When we left FOR the show, it was topped off, no plans were made for driving it until Feb. It shoulda sat, then topped off again before we ran it. But, like I said, there's only so much I can do if the owner decides to run it w/o checking the oil...we ALL knew there was a leak and that we had to keep an eye on it, he just decided not to. That's why he's paying for the replacement.

#6) No ones roping anyone into doing anything. I can't really remember the last time wrkkr helped me with any of my projects...maybe a couple years ago for a few minutes before he got too drunk to turn a wrench...

#7) No worries anyway. We got er taken care of. It's an "out the front swap", no biggee. We have a mechanic buddy that is a fan, found a rebuilt w/15,000 miles on it. Total swap and engine charge 750 bones....taking 1/3 off the normal price and doing it at his garage after hours. Of course he's gettin' some special band perks, but hey...its a good deal.

WTF do you know about what "the guys" know about mechanics?? You never even met Alec yet...

Oh, btw...I didn't get myself into anything. Also, oil was checked before we drove it to Milwaukee. Unless you know of some magic way I can check the oil on a vehicle when I'm 50 miles from it, I'm not sure how this was anyone's fault but Chris's....

SO, you can take yer post and cram it sideways up yer a$$.

Have a nice day.
