Anyone know if a slant-6 shares the same bellhousing bolt pattern as any of the Mopar V8s? Chevy did this with their straight-6; I once converted a Nova to a V8 and was able to use the same motor mounts, transmission, and bellhousing. Just curious if Mopar did the same thing.

i think they share the small block bellhousing pattern, iirc. a couple of my buddies had a-bodies and were always blowing up junkyard 904's. i think they're the same, but it's been a while, and I can't say for sure.

Well, here's what the slant-6 is currently in:

1964 Dodge Power Wagon, ex-Navy ambulance.
Had it out last night to do a deep mud recovery, the thing has a top speed of like 40 mph and takes 30+ seconds to get there. You shift out of 2nd gear at redline at 15 mph, and 3rd gear takes over at 1500 RPM. :bangtard:
PTO winch on the front though...badass. Driven off the t-case, so you disengage the t-case to run the winch, and then your winch is controlled by the transmission and the throttle. With it idling in 1st gear it almost pulled out a very stuck YJ. Then I revved it up and the thing just jumped out of the hole.
I had to improvise a drive flange for the front passenger hub though, I'll have to take some pics. Closed-knuckle D60. :yuk:
Offroad it's unstoppable, two granny gears in the trans, 4.56s, and a 2.6ish low range. Problem is I want a bigger motor in it so it can actually go down the road too, so I'm trying to figure out what'll bolt in pretty easy. If a carb'd 318 or 360 will bolt in, it would probably be a day's job start to finish.

We get random stuff all the time at the junkyard. The ones worth saving, we keep. :)
T-case operation sticker:

ID plate...kind of hard to read in the pic.

We also have an airport tug that has a two-stage rear chain-drive reduction, for a 19.5:1 axle ratio. It has a Dodge straight-6 and a push-button Torqueflite 3-speed trans. It'll idle up through 3rd gear, and be going about 12 mph at redline. :roflmao:
I'll have to take some pics over there soon.

I'd love to. Gimme time to get the historic military plates on it (approx 1 month) and I'll do it for sure.
It'll probably be legal before your junk. :f2:
Hell, it'll probably be wheelin' before your junk. :f2: :f2:
edit: The kid we pulled out was using Pro-Comp X-terrains, *****. :f2: :f2: :f2:
