Friend of mine is having a few issues with his truck, and im guessing somebody on here may be able to provide a bit of insight.

Vehicle In Question: 92' GMC Sierra 1500, 305, Auto.

Problem: Starts fine, and can rev all it wants in park / neutral, as soon as you put it in gear and give it a LITTLE gas, it begins to shake violently and the motor dies. Transmission was replaced about a year ago, and the motor just before he bought it, which was around 15 months ago. I have no specific knowledge of any other work that has been done to it, so any help would be great.

friend had a similar problem, turned out to be an idle position sensor.

If it isn't the sensor...sounds like a problem with the Torque convertor. One of the big problems around here when people have someone rebuild their transmissions they try to get out cheaper by putting the same converter in the transmission and more than likely there is crap caught up in the old converter. We have got that a lot here lately.

I don't know if the tranny in that truck has a Torque Coverter Clutch Soleniod , but my old car had a problem that after driving a while the TCC would lock the coverter and then when you came to a stop, it never unlocked (making it like stopping without pressing the clutch in on a 5 Speed tranny). Restart it and it would unlock....... Might wanna check to see if your tranny has a TCC.....

Edit: I figure it had a 700R4...... so I looked it up...... here ya go....... and it does have a TCC......Clicky (http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?mfrcode=SAG&mfrpartnumber=520203&parttype=424&ptset=A)
