Yo,

Basicly..... My buddys s10 wont back up... Well it backs up but its mad slow and you have to floore it!!! So I checked it out and The tranny cooling lines going to the radiator have a decent leak!!! Im thinking this is the problem..... So instead of Replacing the whole line think I can Just cut the line at the leak and just use hose and clamps to re-connect it?? Im just not sure if it will last and he needs his truck for tonight!!

Think this is the problem?
Think that idea for a fix will work?

Thanks

1. probably
2. yes (as long as its on the return side, pressure side may not hold with a hose clamp)

Not sure what it would be but I don't think the tranny coolant lines are the MAIN problem; UNLESS they have leaked that bad that they emptied the tranny... and if it did you should have a problem going forward too... does the tranny have fluid? You didn't say you had a problem in drive, Is there only problems in everse? it may be a gear issue... rrr something binding in the tranny...

I had a leak on my return line, so I cut the metal line and then ran a rubber line made for tranny fluid. Just sanded the edges of the metal hose so my hose would go on a little bit easyer. 2 clamps for each side of the hose. It has held up great and does not leak. I like it better then how they had it to. Not sure if thats why its not going in reverse though. just thought I let you no I have had no probs with the line.

patch that, top it off and check the throttle valve cable.

there's almost zero pressure going through the cooler lines, unless there's a clog or restriction somewhere.

unhook the lines from the tranny and blow air through them, it should go through easily. if it doesn't, you need to figure out why.

Well you could do all of the above or just buy a 2.5L Wrangler. That way you are gauranteed to not go anywhere in either gear.

hose clamps for tranny cooler lines are fine. my tranny cooler is attached this way and does not leak a drop.

s10 trannies love to die.

Wish this guy would give more than 1 word replies.......
I think that the 1994 got the 4L60E tranny (electronic shift). Possibly a bad shift solenoid? I'm not sure how reverse is worked in, but I know that 1&4 solenoid and 2&3 solenoid are side by side @ the back of the tranny pan. Been there, changed those.....

So were you just low on fluid causing reverse to not work?
