Hey guys I am going to change all my fluids (front, rear axles, transfer case, tranny auto, and engine) in the next week or two and was just wondering what you guys recomended. I know when I was into cars they said royal purple or redline but I'm sure there is a lot different stuff the jeeps haveto put up with. Also I am looking to buy about a 3 to 3.5" suspension lift. Which is the best for ride comfort on road, price and also easiest on my jeep. Thanks

Fluids.. well, I've heard good and bad about alot of things. This is what I'm running
Engine: Valvoline 10w30 (nothin syn, semi syn or any of that, just the regular dino juice)
Axles: 75W90 generic oil (it gets changed often, so the cheaper the better)
Transfer case: ATF (again, changed ofte, keep it cheap)
Transmission: Don't know, haven't changed it since i got the Jeep, it's still pink (almost clear on the stick)
I will say this though, the AW4 apparently does not like synthetic lube. I've heard more horror stories about running synthetics than i have praises, so I'd stay away from synthetic
For the lift... Easy installation, on road ride/comfort or low price. You can't have it all. You're gonna have to pick which one you really want, and what your definition of on road comfort is. (plush ride, or good handling/stability)
Sticking in the 3" area, you are definitely eliminating many problems associated with taller lifts.
If ride is what you're after, check out old man emu kits, They have to be the most recommended kit when the phrase "ride comfort" is mentioned. but that comfort comes at a price.
If you are not planning on taking your cherokee off-road, I would seriously reconsider this idea, because there will be things about a lift that will affect your comfort level, regardless of what lift you choose, simply due to the design of the steering and link suspension setup in the front. Also, any leaf springs with a higher arch will transmit more vibration to the vehicle. This is almost unavoidable.
Things can be done to negate these effects, but again, money and time are two big factors in this process, and you need to be willing to spend BOTH on the setup. As a rule of thumb, cheaper solutions will require more time to get them working they way you want them.
Give a good description of how you plan on using your vehicle, and what you want out of it, prioritize your goals as far as which criteria are most important, and which are least important.

hey thanks for the reply. I guess I should have repharsed my question a little better. Well as far as ride comfort goes I am not really worried about it riding like a cadilac or anything I just want it to be stable around corners and stuff. I don't like it feeling like it is ganna roll coming off an offramp at 30. And as far as offorading goes it is probably ganna be drivin 60 percent on road and 40 off. I don't plan on getting in anything to heavy like moad or anything I would just like the clearance there when I need it. Also with around a 3 to 3.5" lift would 31's be a good choice to run. Thanks to everybody that has helped me with my new toy.

Just be aware for new vibes in your XJ that could result from the lift.
Do you have the D35 in the rear? if you do, just aassure that you don't go any bigger on the tires cuz as far as I know, 31's are the biggeste tires you can run in a D35 "without serious problems"...
my 2 cents. graemlins/icon_beerchug.gif
